Expedition Suisse In 2016, five Swiss theaters – Théatre du Vidy, Gessnerallee Zürich, Kaserne Basel, Theater Chur, and Dampfzentrale Bern – founded the Expedition Suisse network. In 2018, the network was expanded to include LAC and FIT Lugano and the Theater Saint-Gervais in Geneva. The network is committed to promoting and supporting the contemporary dance and theater scene of Switzerland. It supports artists working in various formats and presents the results to the public, thereby an important focus is providing excellent production conditions and supporting artists while touring. Strengths, resources, and capabilities of the different venues are unified in order to realize mutual endeavors on a national level – beyond cultural and linguistic borders. Expedition Suisse supports dialogue and exchange between the eight venues – focusing on program cooperation and administrative structures.
Handle with Care is an exchange program for emerging artists from Switzerland. Together they meet the Expedition Suisse-Partner Institutions and other arts institutions in the different cities, get to know them, watch their program exchange artistic methods, thoughts, ideas and plans. Within this exchange HWC aims to rethink models of collaboration, not only between artists and curators, but also among artists themselves.
This season Handle with Care visited Kaserne Basel / Treibstoff Festival (September 21), Fit Festival Lugano (October 21), Gessneralle Zurich (February 22), Antigel -Festival in Geneva (February 2022) and will travel to Schweizer Theatertreffen in May 22 and to programme commun in Lausanne in June 22.
