Arts budgets are increasingly in the political firing line, and theatres are having to cope with rounds of cost-cutting and reductions in their subsidy. Where are theatres facing budget cuts that threaten their very existence? What strategies can theatre managers use to deal with such cuts? What is the stance of the relevant politicians and of those responsible for culture in cities and cantons?
