Panel discussion

25.05.2017—11:00

Duration 2h – In french, german, Italian

The Swiss Association for Theatre Studies established the Hans-Reinhart-Ring in 1957 and it remains the country's most prestigious theatre award. Since 2014 this great tradition has continued with the Swiss Theatre Grand Prix / Hans-Reinhart-Ring.

The list of the theatre artists thus honoured reflects aesthetic trends and issues of theatre policy as well as the social and cultural relevance of theatre in all parts of the country and at different periods.

The anniversary of the Hans-Reinhart-Ring gives us the opportunity for a debate. How important are national theatre awards in the Swiss theatre landscape, which is as varied as it is divided? What can we do to foster greater exchange between the regions? What are the likely changes and developments as a result of increasing internationalization? Winners of the Hans-Reinhart-Ring from the country's four language regions will discuss these and other questions.
