Debate

27.05.2016—16h00

Duration 2:00 – In french, german

The pedagogical positioning of a school is anchored in a region, in an artistic reality but also an economic and political reality. It reacts to its environment and modifies it in return. It is this movement that we would like to question. What determines a school’s guiding principles? What assumptions does it make when developing its curriculum? How does the curriculum change with the Swiss and European theatrical scene? And how do the graduates influence the art scene? Each school orients the content of the artistic baggage its wants to convey by emphasising certain aspects, whether by promoting a certain approach to the text, by encouraging the search for and emergence of individual artistic identities or by placing the focus on bodily expression. Curricula are developed based on an interpretation of the theatrical landscape and a vision of its future development. The discussion with various representatives of the Swiss theatre arts schools will focus on the choices that underlie the theatre arts training programmes.
