For a second time, the Swiss Theatre Encounter showcases a prestigious selection of Swiss theatre, covering all its regional variations and characteristics. The presentation of seven outstanding productions and a diverse supporting programme establish the Swiss Theatre Encounter as a anuique meeting point for theatre practitioners, experts and audiences.

The board of curators has selected seven productions to be shown in Winterthur from May 28 to June 6.

The festival will be inaugurated on May 28 at 6pm by the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) and the Swiss Theatre Encounter Society, represented by president Adrian Marthaler and vice-president Sandrine Kuster. The festive Swiss Theatre Award ceremony will be held in the presence of Federal Councillor Alain Berset. Addresses concerning theatre and culture will be held by Government Councillor Martin Graf und Zürcher Kantonalbank Deputy Chairman János Blum.

The second Swiss Theatre Encounter showcasts the following seven productions, selected by the board of curators between February 2014 and January 2015 from approximately 200 productions.

The second Swiss Theatre Encounter‘s supporting programme offers discussions, workshops and lectures covering cultural policy and theatre-releated issues.

The Swiss Theatre Encounter and the Swiss Theatre Award ceremony are national events. This year, the festival will once more be held in Winterthur, before travelling to Geneva in the French-speaking part of Switzerland in 2016. Promoting the exchange between the various linguistic regions of Switzerland as well as the acquaintance and appreciation of theatre in the respective other linguistic and cultural spheres, is among the key objectives of the Swiss Theatre Encounter.
