First Swiss Theatre Encounter successfully concluded
The first Swiss Theatre Encounter concluded night of May 31 with the public choice award and a late-night party. During the ten festival days, the audience chose the following winners:
best actress: Carina Braunschmidt "Das Weisse vom Ei / Une ile flottante"
Best actor Graham F. Valentine "Das Weisse vom Ei / Une ile flottante")
Best décor: Stage: Amélie Kiritzé-Topor, Costumes: Coralie Sanvoisin, Lighting: Mathias Roche, “La Dame de la mer”
Board president Adrian Marthaler and festival director Britta Rendlen are content about the reactions to the festival: "We are quite happy with how the last 10 days went. The great acceptance of the festival amongst theatre professionals tells us that we are on the right path. We receive the feedback that there is a real need for a platform for exchange among the various cultural and language regions. We now need to build on the basis we created through this first issue of the festival and continuously work toward this goal".
The Swiss Theatre Encounter was kick-started through the generous support of the hosting theatre "Theater Winterthur" as well as the trust placed into the endeavour by the following institutions:
• Ministry of culture, whose Swiss Theatre Awards provided the opening for the festival
• Theater Winterthur, which hosted the Swiss Theatre Encounter
